Good products sell themselves. So the better a company is at creating any given product or service with as much thinking around those small subtle points already in the conceptual stage the better.
Copy-writing should be at least something that you have an opinion about even more so how to help the marketeer simplify his/her messaging which I guess is as much an information design skill.
