Hi, Joe, Thanks for yur interests in learning more about the China UX community. In Shanghai, there are many R&D centers for renown software companies, such as Microsoft, Autodesk, Google, HP, SAP, WebEx, as well as many design/usability consulting firms like FROG, IDEO, HFI and some local ones. The association of UPA China and IxDA are established for a few years.
Recently, more and more international designers work in Shanghai and so far we got quite a few very senior people who have more than 10 years in the filed of usability and UX design. These people, including me, have practiced in the filed of design for years and well connected with international peers. Now most of us lead teams in different companies and build the design community here. Also, the field of UX is getting more attention and more practitioners joined us each year. Autodesk's main product line is on desktop, so WPF is one of the standard platform for interface implementation. On this end, we are at the same pace as other countries' peers do. Anyway, you are welcome to write us more or even visit us whenever it is convenient. Merry Christmas! I might not be the same case from Beijing. In fact, there quite a big community of these professionals in Shanghai. A lot of big names companies like IDEO, HFI, Autodesk, Microsoft, IBM, HP, SAP, etc has their own IxD and UCD people. These teams has been years here. You can contact IxDA - Shanghai focal Itamar for more information to understand more. IxD Shanghai does organize regular meet-up and seminars. Thanks to Itamar for his hard work. regards, CHAN. Our Beijing team has designers on staff who tend to be domain experts in the field. They are not formerly trained in UX. <http://www.uigarden.net/>http://www.uigarden.net/ Cheers . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
