Hiya,

Peer review is undoubtly critical for unbiased design delivery and quality
output from any group.
Most design groups work in a collaborative environment. Its a brilliant idea
to not only involve
peers in design reviews but also design conception. A standard guideline is
to ensure that no
design leaves the design group till it has been reviewed by at least one
fellow designer. At
times even non-UX designers can offer unbiased opinions on the design done.
The only issue with
peer review is managing it. Other designers need to understand the value of
peer reviews and
this has to be instilled in by the team leaders effectively. Time commitment
needs to be prioritised
for such an exercise in a busy design setup.
A typical peer review could start with a quick tell of what the problem
statement is, who the end
users are and how the issues have been solved. Keep not more than 2 hours
for the exercise to
keep it short and effective. One can use design heuristics as quick check
points for the review.
I've found it to be very effective this way.
