There is also a common self perpetuating mechanism in allowing these "Top 5" to be shown as links and being clicked through. Make sure any mechanism for "Top whatever" does NOT count these click-throughs as part of the ranking figure; that means that true interest is gained from real referrals and links and the natural navigation of the site.
