Hi David, I thought I would point out that the well known K2 theme for WordPress makes use of a horizontal slider for pagination.
Simply head on over to http://getk2.com/ and click the older entries link up top to see it in action. Personally I find standard numerical pagination more intuitive than a slider as I generally only need to look at it to get a good sense of where I am. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
