Hi Martin,

if you are considering more "generalist" schools in Europe, you might want
to take a look at the school where I graduated:
http://design.fh-duesseldorf.de. They use a mixed approach, in essence
very much design studio work on a broad range of subjects and media (your
choice every semester), and specialist courses in things like interaction,
motion, exhibition, editorial, product etc.

I know some people who did the course in Cologne, I think that also would
be a good choice. If you have the possibility I would certainly take the
time and spend a visit before you decide, and as far as I know all design
schools in Germany require a "Mappe" and/or test. I think the skandinavian
schools have a much more elaborate vision on IxD in particular, but maybe
with your background some insights in comm & industrial, and the long
history of a traditional design school would actually help even more to
make the transition.

Some other schools for you in Europe:
- FH Potsdam, they have a large Interface Design department
http://design.fh-potsdam.de/
- ENSCI / Les Ateliers in Paris, industrial with a lot of experimental
interaction design http://www.ensci.com/
- ENSAD in Paris, focused on Comm/Media, but very interesting highly
specialised doctorate-level degrees http://www.ensad.fr
- HS Madgeburg, IxD also more Industrial oriented
http://www.hs-magdeburg.de/engl/studium/s-studienangebot/m_interactiondesign/
- HGKz Zurich http://master.design.zhdk.ch/en/

In general, I recommend looking at their final and course-related works,
exhibitions, projects, research publications, websites/blogs etc, and not
such much concentrate on how they name what they do - in the old world IxD
is arriving very slowly, but they may be great even if they don't know
what the things they do are called like (:
