Agreeing on SOME best practices

some status system that can be lost through bad practice

Publish standards and recommendations as a group of practitioners.

Architects
Electricians
Engineers
Lawyers
Medical doctors
Plumbers

No project manager / team lead / owner can override one of those guy's decision.

All of those guys can lose their 'ticket' because of malpractice.

Every time we've had that discussion, we end up in a two camp systems, half of 
us would like to see something like, half of us think this is just like a 
union and serve no other interest than job protection. They're going to be 
about 20 emails about it, then we won't talk about it for a year or so.
