Aaron:

Taking others to task over a lack of openness? What did I say that gave you
that idea? I've just reread all my posts to this thread and fail to see
what I said that could have given you this idea.

I have no bias for or against any OS - if I did, I would not have paid for a
membership, and I would not call myself a systems administrator. I cut my
teeth on PICK, then Eastman Kodak's Interactive Unix, NetWare, Windows,
Debian Linux, and will continue to manage systems based on whichever OS my
current employer needs me to.

I didn't mean to imply anything, that statement came at the end of this
sentence: "In my experience, at least in the last 5 years, the Windows tools
I use are all stable, all work and all do what I need. Why settle for
less?"

Why would I choose to continue to use any tool that wasn't stable? This was
in response to the direction the thread seemed to be taking, with folks
talking about fixing buggy code. If I'm paying for an application, it
should work or have excellent support that gets it working because it's
their responsibility. Most Windows applications are precompiled, and not
code that can be popped up in notepad or vim, and so I asked the
question... why would I settle for less than a stable application?
