Now that O'Reilly finally released a usable version of their Safari To Go app for the iPad (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/safari-to-go/id385824712?mt=8), I find it makes an unbelievably useful portable reference library. I often use it to search and browse for information connected to Wifi, and I also keep some of my current reading cached for offline reading in case I find myself somewhere with time to kill. I also do the majority of my sysadmin blog reading using the fantastic Reeder app (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/reeder-for-ipad/id375661689?mt=8), which syncs with my Google Reader account. I used to try to keep up with my RSS via computer, but often didn't enjoy reading in front of a desk or laptop. The iPad is generally a much more comfortable reading device, and having it with me on-the-go as well as on the couch at home gives me a lot more opportunity to whiz through the latest news and opinion. As a result I have expanded and diversified my reading list significantly. Reeder also lets me quickly send longer articles to Instapaper (http://www.instapaper.com) which has a companion iPad app (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/instapaper/id288545208?mt=8) that caches the article content for later offline reading. This has enabled me to consume a wealth of excellent and interesting long-form articles that I normally would have just bypassed on the computer due to their length. There, something other than VPN and SSH. :) _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] https://lists.lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/discuss This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators http://lopsa.org/
