Personally, I guess I haven't seen enough to warrant spending the premium $ for an ipad for my sysadmin needs. I don't work for a company that just buys them for their employees... A (much) cheaper netbook does the same for me, and isn't much bigger than the ipad - and has a real keyboard to boot. Call me old fashioned!
BUT--- if you're definitely getting an ipad ANYWAY--- then the previous messages confirm that yes, you can ALSO use it to do remote work support (ssh etc). I guess it would be a good way to justify the expense when telling your spouse... "but honey..
