Yes, that's true - but tapes are smaller and lighter than entire enclosures with multiple harddrives and PSUs (or even just the drives). Even LTO-5 tapes aren't *that* bulky or heavy... And if the bulk and weight is low, then off-site storage just means "locked in a drawer in the office" for a home server, it doesn't require secure storage. No-one's out to steal my data, I'm just worried about electrical surges, fire, theft of hardware during burglary -- the kind of disasters you'd see in the home environment rather than the corporate environment. -- Mark Dennehy
