I know it's too late now, but the best way to get good pricing from a
hotel for connectivity is to do it during the negotiation phase.
Connectivity pricing is a lot more flexible before the contract is
signed. Discussing connectivity durning the contract phase will also
reveal whether the hotel can meet the event's connectivity needs in
general. For some events, poor connectivity or pricing can be a deal
breaker.

Given you are where you are, try to get the sales staff to let you
talk with the IT staff if the hotel has any, or the rep from the
company they contract with if not. Sometimes Sales doesn't really know
what is being requested and a little education can help bring the
pricing down. Sales typically has a rate sheet for internet access and
quotes from that. The rate sheet might say "Dedicated T1", which would
require them to bring in a dedicated line for the event, where the
event might be fine with sharing bandwidth with the guest room
connection.

Good Luck!

Tony
