Well, I was just using the numbers Moose had proposed ($10K for a line good 
enough for everyone, where everyone was defined as ~1000 people).

But, as was noted $10 is as good as $100 when it means a "free" conference 
becomes "non-free"...

That's not *entirely* true. Some hotels, with certain conferences, are happy to 
let the outside parties come in and "school them" on how some stuff can get 
done better. It's rare, but it does happen. :-)
