On the subject of almost permanent walls, we can build double-sided walls that "drape" over the crossbeams, but reach to the ceiling. Barring that, we can drape over the crossbeam and install sound abatement panels in the gaps ( think the walls of a recording studio ). These panels will prevent long distance reflections of high frequencies that may bounce off the ceiling and toward other spaces. Bass is something entirely different.
