Yes, Pippin, IRBlast communication sounds to me a nice feature for some future iPeng version!
Not only because we gain one more flexibility level of volume control, but specially for those who use digital output in Squeezebox. Cause, for what I understand, when we lower the volume in a digital output, we´re straining the signal, and therefore, loosing some quality (in an audiophile point of view, of course) - so we might prefer leaving the volume always at 100%. Other than that, some of my albums are in DTS format, and, for the same reason, the receiver can only decode the DTS if volume is set to 100%, otherwise we get a hiss noise.
