I've bought a fair number of USB external drives for myself, family, friends, etc., over the past several years. Drive quality is pretty high these days, although all suppliers can have model or lot problems from time to time. It's the nature of the beast.
The mainstream brands I've gotten - Toshiba, WD, Seagate, etc - have all been trouble-free so far. I frankly don't think there's much difference between them. I know people who have had problems with some of the cheaper and/or less well known makes. All drives die, some sooner than others, but you should be fine with your double backup. They all go on sale regularly, so don't worry if you miss one sale, there will be another. With the way prices have dropped, they don't quite pay you to take them out of the store but it's close. -- Goodsounds ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Goodsounds's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14201 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=60528 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
