What exactly was your mixed mode? Was that G/N only, or B/G/N? There's a _big_ difference... Mixed mode supporting 'B' backward compatibility requires a kludgy handshaking mechanism to ensure that the airwaves are clear when the faster radios want to talk. I have personally tested both B/G interoperability, and also G/N. I did not get the same results as you, and perhaps that gives us something interesting to discuss now.
