This is the body of a message I sent to support after my SB3 display died:
Hi there. I am a long time SB user and have a SB1 and a SB3. Last night, the SB3 was working fine. This morning when I came downstairs, the screen was dead and I could not wake it. I could still play music through the web interface. I then unplugged the power lead and reset the box, but the display is still dead and I can no longer see it through the web interface (I guess it is waiting for network setup to take place, but I can't do it since I can't see the screens). I have plugged my old SB1 in in place of the SB3 and it works fine, using the SB3 remote. I have taken the box apart and made sure that the cards are all seated properly. The red light is glowing in the back of the SB3 so I know that power is getting through. My setup is: IMac OSX 10.6.1 Snow Leopard. Routed through a Netgear DM111P router and Apple Airport Extreme Base Station. SB Server Version: 7.4.0 - r28672 @ Mon Sep 28 17:49:57 PDT 2009 It looks to me as though the display on my SB3 has died. Do you have any suggestions as to whether there could be something else I have missed? If it is dead, is it possible to get it fixed in the UK? I bought the SB3 in the US in December 2007. Thanks for any input you may be able to give me. And this is the response I got from "Customer Support". Dear Philip; Recently you requested personal assistance from our on-line support center. Below is a summary of your request and our response. We will assume your issue has been resolved if we do not hear from you within 120 hours. Thank you for allowing us to be of service to you. I would tend to agree with you that the display is indeed dead. Unfortunately you can not send in your device for repair. Made worse by the dreadful platitude "Thank you for allowing us to be of service to you". You weren't of service to me - you just told me my SB3 is now an expensive unfixable paperweight. -- philipb ------------------------------------------------------------------------ philipb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33119 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=71324 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
