There are a number of reasons to compress the audio, if needed. - WiFi signal may buffer under full WAV, particularly with multiple players (FLAC could be 50% less) - Pay as you go internet (common in EU) - Bandwidth limitations streaming from your house server to an offsite computer/player (like at work)
