1.
How do you find music in your own library ?
- Which way to you browse/search ? (which browse or search menus)

Since my library is mostly classical I mainly browse by COMPOSER and
WORK. I also use the New Music menu a lot, and sometimes use the
standard search menu when I can't find things easily in those menus.

- Which type of remote/interface do you use ? Different for different
situations ?

iPeng almost exclusively.

2.
How do you usually find new music you like to get but currently don't
have in your library ?

I'm a primitive and still prefer collecting CDs. SB can be helpful
here by reminding me what CDs I already have. Having that be available
offline on my iPod when I'm browsing in a store would be great.

3.
How would you like to be able to find music in your own library in the
future ?
- What kind of functionality is missing today related to browsing ?
- What kind of functionality is missing today related to searching ?

First, something has to be done about the speed and convenience of
integrating new data into the custom browse menus. It takes over 4
hours for a scan of my library (currently about 1.3TB of FLACs).

5.
What kind of tagging/management do you do on new music you add to your
library to make it easier to find stuff later on ?

I redo the COMPOSER, ARTIST, CONDUCTOR and BAND tags and add the new
tags listed below. The important thing is consistency. I don't want
to hunt for Beethoven under "Beethoven, Ludwig van", "Ludwig van
Beethoven", "L. V. Beethoven", and various misspellings. It would be
nice to have this data in a database with a fully normalized schema.

- Which additional tags do you add which isn't handled by standard SBS
today ?
- If you use Custom Scan, which additional tags do you add besides
those supported by SBS ?

WORK

RECORDING_DESCRIPTION, a brief description of a particular recording of
a WORK when the ARTIST or CONDUCTOR is not enough to distinguish one
from another.

FIRSTARTIST, a virtual tag,
oneof (RECORDING_DESCRIPTION|ARTIST|CONDUCTOR|BAND)

See also http://age.hobba.nl/audio/mirroredpages/ogg-tagging.html for a
list of standard Vorbis tags.
