Don't do this often but its 50/50 browse via artist then album then
track or search via track title

Usually use old-fashioned remote and web interface when I listening &
working on laptop at the same time (web interface is nicer to use)

No

VERY much so. More or less all my music listening is via a custom sql
playlist I've created which plays songs so that it prioritises unrated,
higher-rated and least-played songs. I manually rated songs as each
played over a long time. I find this an excellent "one-button" to make
sure you mostly listen to your favourite music and newer music but also
allows you to occasionally hear everything. This is the "killer app" for
me.

No

How do you usually find new music you like to get but currently don't
have in your library ?

Definitely - specialist shows

don't usually search for new music like this - but the odd time via
similar artists: album/bio info would mention similar - recommended -
artists

emusic.com, itunes

computer only

I do - just on laptop/desktop speakers

don't use any subscription service - not in that sense anyway.
Subscribe to emusic so I buy albums I want from that. Otherwise buy
from itunes. If neither of those have it, I buy the CD from play.com or
somewhere & rip it.

answered above more or less

I'd like the custom sql playlist I mentioned above to be automatically
supported: a dynamic playlist can be generated by setting a few sliders
(for rating, play count and time since last played) for how important
each of these characteristics are when selecting which tracks to play

I'm not really concerned about making it that easy to link SB to
searching for new music - what I would really like is if buying &
adding new music to your library was easier. Right now there's lots of
steps: download/rip, convert to desired format, tag, rate, etc. Ideally
a buy-and-add single step would be available. (Maybe a global
configuration that says what target format you want your library in &
where tags should come from)

auto-tag from web using MediaMonkey
no non-standard tags
folder structure is important: artist/album
manual rating is v. important so I can listen more often to music that
I consider to be good

Don't do any of this.

Thanks,
Brian.
