Wombat, you were spot on, the files in question were highly compressed, I don't think dbPoweramp showed the compression level, but when I used dbPoweramp to 'convert' the files to Flac -8 the resultant file size was larger than the original files. It was some months ago and I cannot recall the particular files. I will go through things tomorrow to see if I can find them. I noticed that you were a contributor to that thread and considered sending a pm to you, but as soon as I had re-encoded the file and it worked I moved on to other things. Perhaps you could try encoding a track with Flacuda at the -11 level and try playing it on an SB3.
