With increasing regularity, when I attempt to listen to BBC Radio 4 FM, via my own server, either via iPlayer or the 'BBC' app in MyApps, it doesn't connect. If I select Radio 4 LW instead, it's fine.
I'm not sure that it's to do with the time of day (i.e. demand-related); although it is usually early morning when I try to listen, I've also had this problem later in the morning, and in the evening. I'm not sure whether it's also a problem via squeezenetwork, because, when I just selected R4 FM via that instead, it connected, and when I then tried again via my server and iPlayer, it connected (as if the problem via my server had 'cleared' in the interim). I haven't tried this enough times to draw a conclusion. So, I wonder: 1. Is anyone else having a similar experience? 2. Is it a bandwidth vs. demand problem at the BBC R4 FM end? 3. Can squeezenetwork be expected to have more reliable connection / bandwidth? This is happening so often that it's undermining, for me, the validity of the internet radio route; I'm considering going back to good old analogue - my old analogue alarm-clock radio can reliably wake me up in the morning with R4 FM; the squeezebox method (SBR) can neither wake me up with radio reliably, nor (lately) even play R4 FM when I then manually select it.
