bpa, thanks. I've just changed the settings from 'prefer wma streams'
only to 'use Flash AAC streams' only, to see what happens.

I have 'use Flash mp3 streams' unselected.

I wonder, if I do end up concluding that it's a local BBC
server/network issue, what I could do about it - probably first head to
the BBC site to see what (if anything) I can find out (e.g. what
infrastructure exists where, how to 'complain' etc.).
