Both AAC and MP3 use Flash as Transport so I expect their service to be
similar.  I think WMA may use a different set of servers/network
connections.

You need to check BBC iPlayer web behaviour before you complain.  I
think BBC iPlayer to be the reference service and it uses AAC by
default. Problems with radio and other players can be dismissed as
device specific problems. 

To see what other user comments on iPlayer radio service and to
complain - this messageboard is a good start (there is also an Service
Update board which can be useful)
