Do these smaller devices - 7" - usually have a USB port? A (normal) USB port that could take a USB soundcard and so both 'send' stereo sound to a HiFi, as well as 'receive' analogue for conversion to digital? I've used Squeezeslave successfully on a netbook with a USB soundcard, but a tablet would be simpler/smaller.
