I use several bespoke tags (some recommended by you in your proposals for classical music tags), and menus tuned to use these. So I use the following menus (some standard, some not):
Album Catalogue Numbers (the CD/LP catalogue code) Albums by Album Artist Albums by Artist Albums by Composer Albums by Conductor Albums by Orchestra Artists by Composer Browse Classical Music Classical Albums Classical Tracks Composers by Artist Composers by Conductor Composers by Genre Composers by Orchestra Movements by Composer Titles by Composer Work Artists by Composer Works by Composer Works by Composer Rated (this and the next 2 based on RATING ranges) Works by Composer Top Rated Works by Composer to be investigated Works by Work Artist Plus Dynamic Playlists based on ratings, genres etc. I might use the menus based on standard (FLAC) tags on non-local music sources if I could. As can be seen, the ability to create my own menus has been very useful, and I would not want to be without it. I also still miss your own interface that could show me all the tags on a track in a web display that I could modify. > > Are you with squeezelite just saying that you want to be able to use a > Linux computer as player ? > Or do you explicitly need to support for squeezelite ? I would want something equivalent to squeezelite on my PCs (i.e. a lightweight player that just does what's need to get the data and pump it out), with support for high quality sources (at least 24/192) and digital output via USB. Gapless play is essential (try listening to an opera or oratorio with 60 separate tracks when gaps are added - you wouldn't do it more than once). I could live without my Touch if DLNA was usable, but it is just too flaky and limited. The best I have managed is to use foobar2000 (running in Wine on Linux) with UPnP, and adding some menu entries to its menus based on my non-standard tags. If I could find a decent software controller running on my linux laptop it might suffice, but everything I have tried thus far has been too unreliable, and unable to provide anything remotely equivalent to the richness of the LMS interface. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ PasTim's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41642 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98467 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
