It's not so much the question of "power" of an App. The issue is: if you want to run something in a web browser you need a web server. With the Squeezeboxes, that's not a problem, they are always being controlled through a server anyway.
But on ickStream there is no central server that needs to be always on and that the player is always connected to so it's much more difficult to do a web controller. We do want to eventually have this and have some ideas about how it can be done, but for now Apps are simply the more simple solution :) BTW: we do NOT plan to limit this to iOS or Android. In fact we'll have an openly published API so everyone can write a controller for any platform. We just started with iOS because that was the easiest thing for us to implement. --- learn more about iPeng, the iPhone and iPad remote for the Squeezebox and *New: Logitech UE Smart Radio* as well as iPeng Party, the free Party-App, at penguinlovesmusic.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------ pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98467 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
