I use Pandora (free account). If you seed a station with a few artists you like, it is very good at delivering other artists in the same vein. I've discovered quite a few artists/bands that were worth exploring. And Pandora is easily available on Squeezebox (although I generally create a new station and "seed" it using the Web interface).
