Chromecast Audio has a nice price, presumably because Google is setting
the price based on a mixed calculation (you don't just generate revenue
by purchasing the hardware, but also by using more Google services).

IMO, the way to exploit the cheap hardware is by hacking it. Google
Cast's strength is it's polish and ease-of-use. But I presume it lacks
many of the advanced features I like about the Squeeze ecosystem.

Does the Chromecast Audio, when used in conjunction with Squeeze2Upnp,
support (i) tight synchronization, (ii) ReplayGain, (iii) gapless
playback, etc.? If it doesn't, I don't find the device all that
exciting.

Although, you know what would be really cool? Squeezelite running on a
rooted Chromecast Audio!
