AFAICT Chromecast doe not run Linux they run a version of ChromeOS so there is a no SDK. This make would make it difficult to port Squeezelite. The other choice would require somebody to port Linux to Chromecast hardware - another non trivial task when there is no documentation on the h/w. If Chromecast could be rooted or have Linux ported onto it - it would have been done already for the existing Chromecast. I don't think Google will support Chromecast Audo as a DLNA renderer as it is not part of the architecture - audio shoudl be cast by a DLNA renderer running on an Android system/tv/phone or similar. As a test last year - I've ported Squeezelite as a Chrome Native Client (i.e. runs natively under Chrome) which can then cast audio easily but Chrome only supports 48/44.1 16bit. wrt Chromecast capabilities - IIRC Google said in a recent PR they hoped to do synced audio from multiple chromecasts next year. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104383 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
