There would be no sync between Chromecast and SB player. I expect if an API compliant proper Cast Sender is implemented then Chromecast "sync" would be available. AFAICT but haven't found the exact quote Google have said they will support multi room on Chromecast Audio but not just yet (i.e.sometime in the future). I expect this means same audio output of multiple Chromecast Audio devices. Not sure if the term "synchronised" was used by Google or just the reviewers.
