Personally, it seems to me like a feature looking for a problem. You can do 90% of the power savings by figuring out how to spin down the hard disk and getting a temperature controlled fan.
Considering that the implementation of WOL (at least for windows system, but I think for all systems) is really Wake up On Lan and Reboot the Operating System from Scratch (WOLROSS), how much do you really want all that to happen before you get a response to your keypress on the remote?
