It's a shame that the AAC and Ogg Vorbis incompatibilities were missed, but they were and Progressive is fixing it (Ogg is fixed already). All we are trying to do is keep things in proportion. Slimserver on the Qnap works. There is a problem with one file type which is acknowledged and being worked on. That's a good reason for using lossless, but not necessarily Apple lossless. I (and many others) use FLAC for the same reason. Others use WMA lossless. With respect, perhaps you should have considered that before purchasing? Nothing in this respect has changed since November. I'm happy to take the risk as (a) Progressive's incentive will be the same as SD's (who also provide free upgrades) - building a reputation and a satisfied customer base and (b) even if support does stop at some future date, the firmware at it's current level will still work as it does today, the Qnap will still work as a NAS and it wasn't so expensive anyway.
