in EAC if you use XP you have to tell it.

open eac, click eac in the top left, (where "file" usually is) click
eac options, then click interface and choose xp.

eac is hard to setup, no doubt about it.  but it is far and away the
best, hands down.

u just have to install a lame binary (exe) and copy the right lame dll
(i use winamps) to the right place in the eac dir and then set up the
compression options you want.

if you want HQ mp3s, take the time to learn.  its worth it.
