Still, as MeSue says, I'm not sure why SS has flipped to putting APE
over ID3v2.
It's a great thing, IMHO. I was one of the people who requested that APEv2 be supported with priority over ID3v2. It's too bad so much software out there writes APEv2 and doesn't tell the user, or doesn't display them by default so the user doesn't realize they are in place.
I hate ID3v2, it's a very restrictive format. APEv2 tags are much more flexible; the only problem with them is that a lot of software ignores them.
I wouldn't blame SlimDevices if they switched back to the previous behavior on this particular issue because there are a minority of us who care about it. If I want a flexible tagging format that works I can always head over to FLAC for a well-supported solution. APEv2 on MP3 is nice for me but apparently others are flumoxed by it.
