Default skin never shows artwork on the right side. Make sure you
haven't confused this with Default2, which was mistkenly not removed
during the upgrade process. However, I'm fairly sure that also leaves
out any artwork on the right side.
Skins that doe support the thumbnail in the "now playing" section use
the thumbnail image, which is only collected after a full library
scan. I have also suggested that you try a 6.5.1 nightly build to get
around any "other issues" that I don't want to have to step through
one at a time at risk of consuming the rest of my day as well as yours.

Also, as I have instructed in my first reply...it is also worth getting rid of
Plugins and HTML directory trees and then installing the new version.
