Yes.  In particular, Windows Defender is very persistent on my system -
I have told it to do nothing until I call it up, yet it's always there
in my process list, eating up memory.

norderney, just try disabling "real-time protection" first or putting
Slim on the safe processes list.  Disabling the program in general
doesn't do anything on my system.
