Same thing has started happening to me. I upgraded to 6.5.1 (from 6.3) a couple of weeks ago, and I was delighted to find SB3 started automatically when SS started.
But the last few days I'm having to start SB manually, with a few repeated presses of the 'On' button. After one or two 'waking up Slimserver...' messages on screen, the SB starts. As you say, minor, but irritating.
