Thanks, couldn't find the bug when I searched - I've added a link to
this discussion on the bug to help Slim Support see these comments.

Do you get anything which might be relevant from the log files if you
run Slimserver from the command line with the --d_slimproto flag
enabled ?

To do this (windows), stop slimserver probably from the systray icon.
* Click "Start" button and then "run" menu.
* Enter "cmd" in the dialogue field and press return; a command prompt
window (i.e. c:/> ) should open 
* Enter the command at the prompt 
cd C:\Program Files\SlimServer\server

* Enter the command "slim.exe" with the relevant debug option 
slim --d_slimproto

After you've tried and failed to connect a few times, search for the
slimserver.log and see if there is anything there which may help to
narrow the problem down.
