I tried using my wife's Palm TX to control slimserver and it was a PITA. Screen too small and browser doesn't cache so pages have to load each and every time you access them (at least that's how the built-in browser behaves). I also tried reading some ebooks on it- .pdf's that I converted to .pdb files. OK for novels, but not good for text books with lots of pictures.
I didn't want the weight or cost of a laptop, so I started looking for something between a laptop and a PDA and found the tablets. The 10.4" touch screen will be very nice for browsing my music collection (now I'll have to add cover art, I suppose) and reading books in portrait mode. I'll have to see if I can find some software for remote control that uses the IR ports. Too bad it runs windoze. I'll try linux if I can get the touch screen to work with it.
