My NTL cable modem has just one ethernet port (and one USB port, which
I don't use). Mind you, mine is an old ntlhome:120 (Ambit) modem. I
seriously doubt that more recent NTL modems have a router built-in, in
which case I think you're mistaken about these "unused ethernet
sockets". If you are sure there are some more ethernet ports on the
modem, please let us know what model of modem you have. Assuming there
aren't any extra ports, then you'll need to get a router.

(Incidentally, your posting implies that it will be feasible to use
your SB3 via wired ethernet. If that is the case, don't even *think*
about using it wirelessly).
