OK, after some investigation, here's the lowdown...

- With the strong pound against the dollar, the base price looks very
attractive; $299 works out at about £150, but read on...

- Your credit card company will add a handling fee, probably about
3.5%, about £5 on an SB3.

- Delivery to the UK is about £20 for the express option (thanks
Ur[s]uS), and should arrive in 2 days.

- SB3s fall under "computer peripherals" so I believe do not incur
import duty.

- They do, however, incur VAT at 17.5% on the full amount (including
delivery charge). This works out at about £28.

- The courier (UPS) will almost definately expect you to pay the VAT at
the door. You may be lucky and not be expected to pay then, but you may
receive a letter later asking you to cough up a few months later.

- Here's the killer; UPS charge an additional £11 "handling fee" to
cover the cost of forwading your VAT/duty to the Inland Revenue.

So, all in all, purchasing a black SB3 might not work out any cheaper
that buying it from a UK supplier, however...

- If you take up the "White Sale" offer, it could save you £20 or more.
No UK suppliers are discounting their white SB3s to the best of my
knowledge.

- If you're willing to take the risk of not incurring VAT/duty then you
could save £50 or more. I personally think it's unlikely you'll be this
luckly.

- The next batch of SB3s to come into the UK through supplers will
almost definately be Logitech-badged. If you buy direct (especially if
you buy the white model) you may get an SD branded one.
