FWIW, my wife loves our SB3/Transporter. But I think it helps when pitching a new system to focus on things that absolutely cannot be duplicated with the existing system. Otherwise you end up focusing way too much on why method X is better than method Y for doing essentially the same dang thing, and you'll never win there.
Internet radio--For whatever reason, we get terrible radio reception even though we live at the top of a hill. So no more staticky local radio. And want to listen to the BBC or other overseas radio? No problem, and sounds just like the local stations. Synchronization--Every house has a spot where the sound from your main stereo won't go. Just pop an SB3 in those locations, synchronize, and you're all set. Also works for the back yard. May not be as easy a sell if you've already got speaker runs to those locations, but in my case, we didn't. Where's that CD?--My wife is always bringing a few CDs to work or loaning them to friends (I can't relate to this--leaving them unattended gives me the willies). Then she wants to listen to them at home and can't. Now the whole collection is always available. There are some downsides. My wife and I both can't use a computer to listen to music. We're physically capable of it, but it seems like one is the antithesis of the other, so we just don't. So we use the remote interface, and browsing isn't as easy there. Not hard, just not as easy. So I can say as someone who LOVES his SB3/Transporter, the argument "what's so hard about firing up a web browser?" holds no weight with me. I don't want to be NEAR a computer when listening to music, let alone one that's turned on. The merits of the device are found elsewhere. Hope that helps. -- CatBus ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CatBus's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7461 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=34495 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
