Wouldn't call the LED bright (it is also very small). Altough I never checked how it looks like in total darkness, I would say that it definetely won't bother in a bedroom. Can't say that about the bluetooth lights on my HP notebook, which definetely annoy me a lot (what a faux pas usability wise). About the hiss you hear, I can also hear a silent humm from the A5s when in operation mode, but contrary to your experience they are absolutely silent once in power save mode.
