Multitunes is available here http://www.porkrind.org/multitunes/ and does allow ALL libraries to be seen on the same Mac.
ALAC files are converted on-the-fly using QuickTime and FLAC (at least, that's how I do it). I also have it convert to LAME MP3s for streaming over the internet to my office. There is no quality loss, from what I can tell, at least the FLAC versions.
