The single click issue is an interesting one - I also find this difficult on occasions with the latest firmware (7.0.1 SC). It used to be a lot easier with some of the early beta firmwares, but those firmwares were impossibly slow when scrolling long lists of items.
My impression is that speeding up the long list scrolling acceleration has made it a bit harder to achieve a single click scroll.
