Nonreality,
I am speaking with the experience of my own reality ;-) i.e. what I use
and what I have heard (not heard...of).
I don't have any Yam (or others) receiver of this sort, so I can't tell
anything about it.

My kitchen setup is SB3 on a Kenwood K-701 mini system. (I also had HF
rigs from that brand). Sort of mini stereo reduction of A/V receiver,
however, but without digital input.

My main setup :
Rega PII, Audiocraft AC-300, V15-V
CD deck : 3Dlab CD-master
FM tuner by Atoll
Amp : Neodio Model 100 MKII
Spkr : Jean-Marie Reynaud Studio III
(you'll have to surf a while for finding URLs about all this french
stuff...)

The Transporter was WAF-asked, instead of another SB (finally, I can
thank her) and listens to FLAC via Wifi.
More, it stands as a pretty decent DAC.
I agree that is difficult to borrow a DAC, but it may happen. Via a
forum, for instance (I also live in open countryside).

IMHO, what I have written should not be understood as suggestions to
upgrade anything : these are only my own findings.

BTW I have just taken the time to connect my drive to the TP's DAC. I
can't hear any differences, so I have concluded they are equally good
FMHE (For My Humble Ears).

Have a nice musical Sunday,
Best Regards
