Wow! I could NOT disagree with that more. Zabbix's alerting capabilities are, in our experience, abysmal. It's methodology for dealing with combined graphs (e.g., the same metric for multiple servers graphed on the same graph) is horrendous (deleting a given server, say when you retire it, deletes all graphs it's included in, even if there are 20 other servers in that graph). We are in the process of moving all of our monitoring over to a Groundwork/Nagios install, and I've got a pilot program of Cacti on track to potentially replace the graphing functionality... I wouldn't pick Zabbix again if someone paid me to do it....
