I had a file set up in "login items" in "System accounts"; the only
problem was that itunes would finish that file and then open the next
one in my library and so on. I'm sure this could be done with a script.
You can certainly get other sounds; you'd be best to convert them
to .aiff files. You can put them in /Systems/Library/sounds and/or
your user directory has a sounds file of some kind under Library/
Mail; there are probably other directories that you can find with
spotlight. then they will show up in your alert sounds and new mail
sound and in meridian if you have it. Only you have to be careful
because with some kinds of upgrades some of your files could be
erased from those directories so its good to keep backups.
You can convert files but you can also google specifically for aiff
sound effect files.
